Augusta school board talks 1:1 technology initiative, adopts 2021 budget

Richmond County Board of Education discussed the rules and policies for its 1:1 technology initiative on Tuesday, which would give every student use of a computer.

Through funds from the American Rescue Plan, Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and Cares 2, HP Probook laptops will be issued to each student and teacher so they have the tools for sufficient education.

Angelica Borowy, Park Vista Community High School valedictorian

If your high school does not have an Environmental Club, the only thing to do is start one. That’s exactly what Angelica Borowy, 2021 valedictorian of Park Vista  High School in Lake Worth, did.   

Angelica, first in her graduating class of 717, developed an interest in the environment after watching documentaries about environmental issues. She started the club in the 10th grade. Since then, the club meets monthly via Google Meets to discuss environmental tips. This year, the group also participated in two beach cleanups at the Boynton Inlet.

Early on, Vismay Sharan’s father introduced his son to math puzzles and games. Vismay became so skilled at solving them, that his dad explored every avenue to up the challenge.

“Be it math or cooking or playing soccer, my dad (Vibhakar) has always encouraged me and made me believe in myself,” Vismay said.
