Marion libraries buy computers thanks to lower costs in COVID pandemic

Last week, the Marion County Library System asked the County Commission to allocate over $13,000 in savings toward buying replacement computers for the public’s use. The request was almost immediately granted with no debate and in a unanimous vote.

The money was available because the MCLS spent less than planned on events, security, operations and supplies during most of 2020. The resulting savings is something of a silver lining to the pandemic. And although everyone wishes COVID-19 had never happened, focusing on some of the positive outcomes can help.

Many of the older residents most at risk for COVID-19 don’t have the technology to sign up for vaccines offered by the area’s two major health networks.

That’s why a helping clinic was set up at the Boys and Girls Club of Easton.
