Chandigarh: Despite having a telecom infrastructure density almost double to that of the national average, the Punjab government has decided to increase it further to ensure fast track growth of digital communication network and provide affordable and universal access of broadband for all in the border state.

As per a statement, Punjab’s telecom infrastructure density ranks third in the country and is presently 0.7 per 1,000 population. The national average, meanwhile, stands at 0.42 per 1,000.

SOUTH BEND — Free internet access is available to any South Bend Community School Corp. families with students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.

Citywide Classroom South Bend — a partnership between the city of South Bend, the school district and local nonprofit enFocus — has already served nearly 1,000 households across the city through a needs-based rollout of at-home internet plans and mobile Wi-Fi hotspots, program leaders announced Monday.

California surpasses 90% internet access, low-income homes still lacking

California has reached a digital milestone as nearly 91% of its households have high-speed internet access, according to new statewide survey results released today by USC and the California Emerging Technology Fund.

That’s up from the 88% reported in 2019 by the biennial Statewide Survey on Broadband Adoption that monitors Californians’ digital access.

Three Clallam County public libraries offering computer access

Access to public computers at three Clallam County libraries is now available during limited hours.

The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) has expanded services to include public computers at the Port Angeles, Forks and Clallam Bay libraries. Public computers are not yet available at the Sequim Library.

The expanded service is in addition to Grab and Go Browsing, pickup of holds and copier use during limited in-library service hours.
